Our Mahé Plant-Based Hair Dye Has Had a Makeover!
Many of you have been eagerly awaiting this moment: Plant-Based Hair Dye is back!
The reason for its absence over the past few weeks, the changes in formulation and packaging, the application tips: we tell you everything in this article!
Out of stock: but why?
No, we didn’t use mustard or sunflower oil to make our cult product, but just like those products, some of the ingredients that usually went into its composition were unavailable to us from the beginning of 2022.
Given your enthusiasm for our Plant-Based Hair Dye, this situation quickly had an impact on our stocks and therefore on its availability.
Faced with persistent supply difficulties, we decided to speed up the implementation of a project we had already been working on for a long time: revising our formula for even more naturalness and benefits for your hair.
You don’t change a winning team
For this new version, there was no question of changing our approach:
- still 91% ingredients of natural origin
- no traces of hydrogen peroxide, ammonia, resorcinol, parabens, PPD (paraphenylenediamine) or henna
- a 100% French recipe and manufacturing process
- perfect coverage of white hair from the 1st application
- a concentrate of effective active ingredients to reveal the natural beauty of your hair
What’s new?
Our hair dye is now in the form of a cream, rather than a gel, for even more gentleness.
It is also fragrance-free! So don’t be surprised if the olfactory experience is different during your next applications: the perceived scent is simply that of the pigments.
Whatever color you choose, it is also enriched with:
- flaxseed oil, a major ally for hydration, repair, protection, shine, and growth thanks to the fatty acids and omega-3s it contains,
- organic castor oil, which restores shine, suppleness, and softness to all hair types,
- and marine bamboo, a real collagen booster with powerful regenerating, remineralizing, and soothing properties.
The ingredients under the magnifying glass
The ingredients in our formula were not chosen at random. Each one counts:
- Ingredients of plant origin: mainly active ingredients and plant oils that will protect the hair and scalp, prolong the color, add shine, and maintain hydration
- Ingredients of mineral origin: to bind all the elements of the recipe together, prevent static electricity, and regulate the pH
- 9% ingredients of synthetic origin: to color, improve coverage, prolong the color’s radiance, and stabilize and preserve the product.
Our goal is simple: to offer you a high-performance coloring solution that is gentle on even the most sensitive or weakened hair and scalps.
New packaging
New identity, new information: the change in packaging raised many questions that we wanted to answer.
-
It now says “91% natural ingredients,” whereas no indication was given before. Is the new formula therefore less natural than the previous one?
No, the concentration of natural ingredients remains the same. We simply decided to add this mention to our packaging so that you can choose your coloring product with full awareness of its characteristics. A way for us to go further in our commitment to informing and being transparent with you.
-
The mention “without hydrogen peroxide, ammonia, and resorcinol” has disappeared. Are these ingredients therefore in the new recipe?
Rest assured, this is obviously not the case! The evolution of regulations related to advertising claims, and especially “free-from” claims, has simply led us to no longer use this mention in favor of the positive aspects of our product. So whether you are allergic to one of its ingredients or opposed to the idea of using a hair product containing them, you can continue to use our Plant-Based Hair Dye without worry.
-
It doesn’t say “hypoallergenic” anywhere. Strange for a hair dye with a high percentage of ingredients of natural origin, isn’t it?
Even with natural ingredients, there is no such thing as zero risk of allergy. So although our product’s composition is designed to be as non-allergenic as possible (that is also why we chose to remove the fragrance, for example), we cannot state that it is “hypoallergenic.” If you were used to using the previous version of our hair dye, and new ingredients have now entered the formulation, we therefore invite you not to neglect the testing phase on the inside of your wrist or behind your ear 24 hours before applying it to your entire head of hair, and to follow the directions for use carefully.
A simple application method
Did you like the application method of our Plant-Based Hair Dye? Good news: with the new formulation, there are very few changes to note.
1/ Wash your hair with Mahé Herb Shampoo.
2/ Apply the Plant-Based Hair Dye in a thick layer using a brush to damp, towel-dried hair, first to the roots and then to the lengths. Massage it in.
3/ Leave on for 45 to 60 minutes under the provided cap or under plastic wrap, and rinse thoroughly until the water runs clear.
4/ Apply Mahé Herb Treatment, leave on for 5 to 10 minutes, then rinse.
By scrupulously following these steps, you’ll have the hair of your dreams, free of white hairs and full of softness!
Possible mixes
To find your perfect shade, you can mix the shades together and even mix the old and new formulas!
We are aware of this, and change is not always easy to accept, especially when we have deeply ingrained habits that suit us. But rest assured that if we have opted to evolve the formulation of our iconic product since 1979, it is solely to better meet your expectations in terms of gentle coloring. Any other questions? Need advice? Do not hesitate to contact us. We will be delighted to help you define a hair care routine tailored to your needs.
